Prayer Update

Janna and Daniel Ross are missionaries with Children’s Hope Ukraine and are supported by PBC.

"Please pray for Daniel if you can. He's been sick for two weeks and we still don't know what it is. His main symptom is a very painful body, mostly muscles. He's been to the hospital, done blood work, did a thorough exam, and has been communicating with a doctor. Its still a mystery, and it's just frustrating not knowing. Also, it would be cool if you emailed him some words of encouragement because he's going a little stir crazy. You know Daniel, always running around, building stuff, loving on kids, and helping people. Just sitting at home for such a long time is not his cup of tea. Thanks so much; I appreciate it.”

Jo Henslee would like to thank everyone for the prayers, well wishes, food, cards and books that people dropped off.  She stills has both boots but has upgraded to walking with a cane.  God is good !

AET3 Joshua Pringle has been in Hawaii for almost 6 weeks and has already been through rare historical events when an earthquake and 2 hurricanes threatened the Hawaiian Islands and also has had the opportunity to be a part of a team to repair fire damage on a C130 at Coast Guard Air Station Barber's Point.  This is awesome for Josh to learn this much this soon after arriving fresh out of school.  Josh is working on getting qualified on his job. There are quite a few qualifications that have to be done after arriving at a new base.  Since this is Josh's first air base, his qualifications are difficult and very time consuming.    Josh is kept so busy, he barely misses his furniture and household items that are on their way from storage in Jacksonville, FL. NOT!  His "stuff" is not due to arrive until September 15th, and it has been hard to set up house and keep from spending money on things that will be there soon.  (if you can call it soon)  Josh arrived July 9th, so that is approximately 2 months in a bare apartment.  His car arrived in good shape with damage to only one of the wheels.

Josh has a roommate/ coworker, Kyle, arriving from school next week.  Kyle graduated in the next class from Josh at Elizabeth city, NC.  Josh has visited several churches, but doesn't know which one is best for him.  Please pray for him to have clear direction from the Lord.  Josh is doing well and enjoying his new job and home.

Caleb has been in the field a lot, preparing for another deployment which is scheduled for early 2015.  He will be going to NTC in November which is the deployment prep. that is in Death Valley, CA.  He seems to be getting better after the tragedy of a co-worker taking his own life almost a month ago.  It was hard on Caleb because it was so close.

Caleb is being promoted to corporal and he has 2 soldiers in his ranks.  I think he enjoys being at Fort Carson even though it is a smaller base, so not as much going on all the time.  Also, it has been such a rainy summer, so very different from El Paso, TX for sure.  Caleb gets to come home for a 4 day during Labor Day weekend, so it will be great to see him.  Back to "field" as soon as he gets back.  In approximately 5 months, Caleb will be making the decision about re-enlistment again.  Please pray for clear direction from the Lord.  Melissa, Caleb's fiance, is still working at City Market here in Pagosa Springs, but working in the floral dept. instead of the pharmacy.  Less stress for sure!

Thanks for prayers and support!

MISSIONS UPDATES

Bill & Barbara Fair (InFaith)

Bill and Barbara have breakfast bible studies and many discipleship times during a "regular" week.  Bill preaches when called at different area churches.  They also have "Training of the Twelve" Rodeo Bible Camp in LaVeta and Mountaintop Retreat in Montrose each spring/early summer.  This spring was very busy with a trip to see Barbara's mom in Georgia. After that, they traveled to Maryland for an 'InFaith' mission conference, then arrived home over a month later.  Even though the "loop" was long, the fellow missionaries, friends and family they saw along the way refreshed their spirit.  Bill and Barbara made a trip to Denver to see Amy, their daughter, graduate this spring from Denver Seminary in Youth and Family ministries, with an emphasis on counseling .  Bill, Barbara and Amy attended a Young Life Camp in British Columbia, Canada this summer.  They learned a lot observing 360 teens for 7 days.  They are wanting to start a Young Life Club here.
Family is a major part of Bill and Barbara's lives.  They have seven "grands" that keep them busy,
but blessed.
"It remains our goal and mission to share Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those the Lord puts in our path.  We so appreciate your prayers for us and our family, as well as for Amy as she seeks what the Lord has for her next.  Your gifts and involvement in our ministry are blessings from the Lord for us.  Thank You !!"

                           AFRICA - The Hauger Family

                                          Bananas and Rainbows

Sounds like a children’s book title, huh?  It’s not.

We live in a hard place. You’ve probably read our posts that describe the violence, the poverty, the corruption, the constant strain of want and bombarding requests for help. Yes. We are called to this. But, calling isn’t easy and grace doesn’t include comfortable convenience. Some days, living on the edge of the slum, moving with poor women, we deal with personal problems so foreign to our “American minds” that I must gulp, swallow my complaints and simply choose to sing.
Lately, we’ve wondered what it might be like to not raise the 5 year old who’s been a part of us for three years now.  We’ve struggled with limited opportunities on where and how to educate our kids. Gouging gasoline prices, skyrocketing food costs, daily concerns about security… All these trials threaten to steal my peace, and silence the joy of service.

It’s times like this that I ALWAYS find Jesus moving in the shadows of small blessings, like He’s teasing a game of hide and seek, inviting me to play, to laugh, to be brave because He’s there, right there, even in the midst of tenuous uncertainty.

There was a day so difficult I couldn’t restrain the sad tears welling in me. That was the day I saw the Lord in the surprise of bananas and the glory of a rainbow.

Mind you, bananas are fairly common here but none seemed to grow on the tree we planted over a year ago. Our second Christmas tree, not more than 3 feet high in the pot was transferred to the yard and grew in crazy measures, standing taller than our almost 6 foot son, but no bananas. Not a one.

Despite nursing it to bear fruit, nothing came of our efforts. I gave up.

Weeks later, there they were, like an overnight birth – bananas!

That same evening, after ministering a day of crisis to faith-filled solutions, the ride home found us following a brilliant rainbow – uncommon beauty in shantytown. We laughed, dancing in the evening’s glorious glow.

I realize these blessings might not sound like much compared to miracle healings or dramatic deliverance, amazing testimonies we’ve also experienced here. But when Jesus shows up in those small, small things - like bananas and rainbows - His intimate presence invades difficulties and coaxes my grateful smile.

Although we see Him in the profound, what small things will you see God in today?

Asante sana for your encouragement, support and prayers.
 hugs from the haugers Ooo0o
