Sonlight Christian Camp is open for registration!! Come spend an amazing week of summer camp at Sonlight Chistian Camp! We are a small, non-prifit youth camp located near Pagosa Springs, with many activities, including whitewater rafting, thematic night games, day hikes, archery, mountain biking, climbing wall, crafts and more! Our staff give individual attention to each camper, and strive to build lasting relationships within a Christian based, community environment. We offer one-week resident camp sessions for 3rd - 12th graders and high adventure trips for 6th-12th grades. Our theme for 2012 is "Into the Wild". Our Savior Lutheran Pre-School is holding their annual fund raiser "A Night to Remember" will be a romantic night filled with Hors D'oeuvres, cocktails, music, prize drawings and a silent auction. "DREAM BIG AND CHANGE OUR WORLD".

Have you ever felt that you had something big you were to do with your life? You know that feeling that you were destiend for something great; the feeling that you were going to change the world. Well, you are not the only one. We all have that wonderful feeling of expectation and hope, but sadly we put it aside and stopped looking for that opportunity of greatness. We want to do big things but that feeling that we are so insignificant in the larger picture frustrates and sidetracks us. Please be encourage that it is not too late in your life to do something meaningful and great. There is still time to "Dream BIG and Change our World".

COMING IN OCTOBER

I have a friend named Jack. Jack was the chairman of the Deacon Board at my last church. One morning while we were out on the golf course he turned to me and said; “Tom, if I ever write a book the title is going to be ‘God’s Timing Stinks’.”

So often God’s timing stinks…so we think. Though we hear it said that His timing is perfect and we know it is perfect, there are times when we want to yell at God because of His timing. So how do we deal with His timing?

Join us each Sunday during October as we discover how to handle those times when his timing seems to just stink.

SOCCER OUTREACH

This week continues a new outreach program to reach young families in our community. It involves cooking & handing out hot dogs and water and inviting people to our church at the local youth soccer games. The response has been very positive!

If you would like to help in this outreach, please SIGN UP at the information board in the foyer or contact the church office.

The time & effort will be minimal, but the result could be eternal!

SEE YOU AT THE POLE: A student initiated & led prayer rally will be held at your school’s flagpole this Wednesday at 7:00 am. There will also be a time of worship and prayer at the high school auditorium from 7-8:30 that evening.

On Sunday, October 2nd, we will be having a baby dedication service. If you or someone you know would like to have your baby dedicated, please contact the church office.

The Pagosa Pregnancy Support Center is having its fundraising banquet on Thursday, Oct. 13, 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Centerpoint Church. The featured presentation at the banquet will be an original drama from Mosaic, which follows the experience of a Center client and her boyfriend, and uniquely showcases the Center's diverse services. If you would like to serve as a table host, or if you would like to attend and have not yet been invited, please contact Linda Muirhead or Katrina Thomas.

UPDATE ON KARL HUJUS

Karl continues to make improvements daily. Please continue to keep both him and his family in your prayers as his road to recovery is most likely a long one.

PBC LADIES' BIBLE STUDY

Tuesday, Sept. 27th, from 1-3 PM, will be Lesson #9 of our current PBC’s Ladies’ Bible Study. October 4th we begin a new study, “THE PATRIARCHS” (a Beth Moore DVD study). The books are now in the church office for pick up (just be sure to sign that you received yours) PBC is buying the books for us, so no $ worries there.

And, no babysitter worries, either, just call Linda Mariska - 903-9839 if you plan to come & need a “sitter”.

COMMUNITY LADIES' BIBLE STUDY

Jo Arrington will be leading us in a study "What in the World is Going On" by Dr. David Jeremiah starting on Sept 13 at CrossRoad Church. We start at 9:30 for fellowship and coffee, prayer time starts at 10:00-10:30 and then the lesson will begin when we finish with that.

"Investing Wisely In Your Future"

Proper investment of our resources is something we all want and need to do. Be it time or money we desire a sound investment that would give us a good return. The process of investment shouldn’t be something we jump into like a get rich quick scheme. Sure we may all get a break now and then with a foolish investment but that isn’t the prudent wise move. Our investments need to be methodical and we must have an understanding that it will take time and most likely sacrifice to see it through.

This sermon series “Investing Wisely” is about our investment as the Body of Christ in the greatest Commission given to us; “the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:18). To do this wisely we must know how to invest resources in a proper and effective manner. Our treasures should be in heaven and our Lord has given us resources here on earth to invest in our heavenly future. Let’s learn to invest in eternity wisely.

Update on Karl Hujus

Karl (oldest son of Vicki and Bob Hujus) is making many advances and improvements and has been moved to Craig Hospital in Denver. He is making amazing advances, but has a long road to recovery. Also, please pray for Bob & Vicky during this recovery and transition time. UPDATE ON JASON & BRYNN EARLEY: The Earley family has arrived in Texas and are beginning to settle in. Employment and housing is now in place! We have new contact information for them in the bulletin this week and also at the church office.

FIRST PLACE 4 HEALTH

This class is open to men and ladies who desire to develop a healthy lifestyle and achieve wellness in all areas of life. Whether you have 10 pounds to lose or 100 or none, First Place 4 Health provides a way to achieve better control of your health. Success comes through positive changes in how you think about your health and body. FP4H is a complete Christ-centered program that has been around for 30 years. It is not a "quick-fix" diet, but a safe approach that incorporates a healthy eating plan with Bible study and exercise as well as a support group.
The Fall 12-week session begins in September. Orientation is offered on Thursday, August 18 at 6:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, August 21 at 4:00 p.m. Attend either time to get a preview of this program and make an educated decision. Transformation Station Fall Teacher Meeting will be Saturday, August 20th at 10:00 am at Pagosa Bible Church. All teachers in our Sunday School are encouraged to come to discuss our Fall Curriculum and how we can make our Sunday School ministry even better.

Karl Hujus

Karl (oldest son of Vicki and Bob Hujus) was involved in a motorcycle accident this past Sunday on his way to go pick up his girlfriend for church in Bayfield. He is currently in the ICU in Farmington with head injuries and many other various injuries. Please lift Karl and his family up in your prayers continually!

"PuppetMaster" Coming to Pagosa Bible Church

Mosaic, the Christian Theatre Ministry of Spring Theatre Company, will give the premiere presentation of "PuppetMaster" later this month. Pagosa Bible Church will host the presentations July 28th, 29th and 30th. Doors will open at 6:30 and curtain is at 7:00pm.

"PuppetMaster" centers on a young woman returning home from a difficult few weeks at college. The play explores the various spiritual influences impacting her life. From family and friends to societal stresses and other influences, the many pressures of everyday life vie for prominence as she attempts to make sense of an ever more difficult situation.

Admission is FREE. No tickets necessary. seating is first come, first served. An offering is accepted to help defray the cost of the program.

'No Ordinary Day' Returns to Pagosa Springs

On Sunday morning, August 7th, during the 10:00 am service at CrossRoad Christian Fellowship, Mosaic, the Christian Theatre Ministry of Springs Theatre Company will reprise its production of “No Ordinary Day.

This is a play about one man’s journey to the Judgment Seat of Christ. We are told that every believer in Christ Jesus will appear before Him and give account for his works done for the glory of God, with the right motive, and in dependence upon the power of the Holy Spirit as outlined in 1 Corinthians 3:12-15. This account is also known as the Bema Seat Judgment.

“No Ordinary Day” is a moving depiction of one man’s account of this judgment and will compel the believer to examine their own life and what they have done and will do for Christ. It will inspire you, concern you, and move you to action for Christ in your life. Everyone is invited to attend the August 7^th Sunday morning service.

No tickets are necessary and seating is first come, first served.

The Missions MAT is looking for one or two couples to prepare an evening meal at the Pregnancy Center. UPDATE FROM LORNA MEDICI

Just wanted to say hello from Nasu, Japan. I am now a cook at a Christian retreat...who would have thought. There is a team from Campus Crusade who is helping the Tohoku area and they are working on an organic farm, picking 3000 pounds of potatoes, pulling weeds from rice pattie fields, pulling weeds from sweet potato field, and mixing food for the pigs on this farm. They have also dug up 300 pounds of garlic and 400 pounds onions. This farm will be used to help the Fukushima evacuees...offering jobs to them while they are living in the evacuee centers. Some of the evacuees have been living in the centers for 4 months already. They make cardboard box houses inside the centers to give them a little privacy, not much really. Anyway, God is opening doors for me to share the gospel with many Japanese people. The picture attached to this email is a seminary graduate from Tokyo Bible Seminary, where I stayed in their dorm room for a week. I visited an elementary school in the Nasu area of Japan and shared with them that God loves them and that the people back in the States are praying for them. The 3rd grade and 4th grade teacher gave me 45 minutes to talk to the students. After the talk, the 3rd grade teacher told me that his sister-in-law is a Christian. Wow! God is so amazing, the Japanese people's hearts are becoming softer and softer. When I spent the night with a counseling team in the Fukushima prefecture, we were all awakened by a long earthquake. The doors and windows shook and the building groaned, I pulled the bedsheet over my face, just incase the window were to break and prayed, "God, help us!" It was scarry! One girl on our team said that she slept through the earthquake. The next day at the evacuee center I talked to 18 people about God's love, fantastic! One of the Japanese girl on our team said to me, "I wish I could be bold like you!" I told her that a lot of people back home are praying for me to be a witness for Jesus. Also, that God gave me the verse, Ephesians 6:19 right before leaving for Japan. Praise God for answered prayers! Please keep praying for God to open more doors for me to share His love with them. It is an exciting time to be in Japan and please pray for a revival. God bless you all!

UPDATE FROM THE CANNON FAMILY

Dear Friends and Family,

The last few weeks have sure had their fill of emotional ups and downs in our household. Some of the ups have included receiving our shipment from the USA, and receiving my Indonesian float plane license! One of the downs included hearing the news of Rebecca’s dad having a heart attack and his very tough recovery. Rebecca and I have continually been challenged to find our resolve in the Lord and remember that His calling to minister on the other side of the world is an incredible privilege with a sometimes VERY high cost. Thankfully, it appears Becca’s dad is on the mend.

For the remainder of July, I will be busy flying into the interior of Borneo serving the people that live there. Sometime the first week of August we are going to return to Java and complete our last few units of language school. We should be there about 2.5 months before we come back to PalangkaRaya sometime around mid-October.

When you hear from us next, we will probably be back in Java to complete language school. Thank you as always for your part in our ministry.

SUNDAY.... Pastor Tom has been preparing a new sermon series "Unboxing the Christian Relationship" (What's a Christian to do with ....?).

Unfortunately, the Pregnancy Support Center had a burglary last night and 2 bottles full were stolen. They know that one of them was from someone who attends PBC. Would the individual who dropped off a filled baby bottle containing approximately $35 at the Pregnancy Center on Tuesday, June 21 please call the Center? The number is 264-5963. They need your information in order to send you a tax receipt.

Baby Shower!! There will be a baby shower right after church on Sunday for Michele Campbell and her new little baby Trinity. All women are welcome to join and celebrate Trinity's arrival!

There will be a memorial service for Ruth Bankhead, mother of Barb Walton, on Sunday, 3:30 pm, here at PBC. All are welcome.

CenterPoint church is having a kids' music camp next week. It's for kids ages 7-12. They will be working on drama, singing, and set construction. It's Monday thru Friday 8-4 daily. There is a small fee...$25 1st kid, $15 next kid and then $10 with a max fee per family of $50. The kids will need to pack a lunch daily, and snacks will be provided. They will work on a kids musical (LOST-Living Our Saviors Truths) to be performed Sunday 7/3 @ 10:15 at CenterPoint.

This week: Dealing with the Anxiety of Loss

Life gets really crazy at times. From relationships, work, finances, and everything else going on in the world, anxiety seems to be the norm of the day. So often, we lose our heads dealing with life’s issues. We can choose to ignore them and sweep them under the rug, hoping they will go away. But the reality is, the issues still remain and continue to affect our lives. So what do we do and where do we turn?

We have a choice to make when it comes to handling anxiety. We can deal with it as best we can in hopes that all things will work out or we can go to someone else expecting them to have all the answers. No, I’m not talking about a self-help clinic, or watching another episode of an afternoon talk show. I’m not even thinking about your best friend or a local bartender. They have the same issues we have. They’re just masking them really well. What I’m talk about is, looking to the Creator of the universe for the answers. Since He made the world, don’t you think He will have the answers to dealing with it?
Be sure to be a part of our new sermon series, “Dealing with Anxieties of Life”. Each week I will be addressing a different area of the anxiety we all face; Failure, Choosing (Decision Making), Loss, Money, and the World Around Us. We will see how we can get a handle on these issues and get a God perspective on the anxieties of life.

This would be a great time to bring that friend you’ve been praying for.

. Since its inception, millions have gathered together to humbly seek God in prayer. A community prayer meeting will be held tonight at the Ross Aragon Community Center at 7:00pm. The meeting is to include a time of worship and prayer in which multiple churches, and Christians of all ages, can join together to ask for God’s hand to touch our world.

MOTHER'S DAY IS SUNDAY

Did you know?

Anna M. Jarvis (1864-1948) first suggested the national observance of an annual day honoring all mothers because she had loved her own mother so dearly. At a memorial service for her mother on May 10, 1908, Miss Jarvis gave a carnation (her mother's favorite flower) to each person who attended. Within the next few years, the idea of a day to honor mothers gained popularity, and Mother's Day was observed in a number of large cities in the U.S. On May 9, 1914, by an act of Congress,

President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. He established the day as a time for "public expression of our love and reverence for the mothers of our country." By then it had become customary to wear white carnations to honor departed mothers and red to honor the living, a custom that continues to this day.

Lisl was asked to take over for Carolyn as church secretary after the Carolyn expressed desire to focus on other pursuits. Carolyn has been a great blessing to the church as a servant and friend. She has been an instrumental part of most aspects of the church; from spearheading our transition to the new facility to being the “go to” person for most aspects of ministry at PBC.

On Sunday morning March 27th during our regular service time you will be blessed to see the presentation of “No Ordinary Day”. This is a play about one man’s journey to the Judgment Seat of Christ or Bema Seat. We are told that every believer in Christ Jesus will appear before Him and give account for his works done for the glory of God, with the right motive, and in dependence upon the power of the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 3:12-15

This moving depiction of one man’s account of this Judgment will compel you to examine your life and what you have done and will do for Christ. It will inspire you, concern you, and move you to action for Christ in your life. Please make it a personal priority.

“No Ordinary Day” will also be presented the evenings of March the 27th, 28th and 29th at 7 p.m. here at Pagosa Bible Church. You will want your friends and loved ones to enjoy this presentation too.

We praise God for the spiritual encouragement and support you give us by faithfully lifting us up before the throne of grace!

Here are the things we are thanking God for:
1. Comments from new clients: “The people are so respectful and understanding.”; “I think you guys are doing a fantastic job.”; “Thank you very much!”; “I liked the friendly atmosphere.”; “I felt very comfortable.”; “It was helpful and friendly.” In answer to our question “How could we be more helpful to someone in your situation?” : “Just getting the word out to everyone to come here and help out and get help.”
2. An outstanding class of new volunteer trainees, including 4 male volunteers and 2 veterans who are taking a “refresher”.
3. I (Lisa) am so thankful for dedicated staff members, Jan and Liz, who covered for me while I was out sick.
4. Furniture provided for a client and her family in need.

Here are things we would like prayer for:
1. Client prayer requests: “Just (for me) to be more careful next time.”; “To have a safe full-term pregnancy.”; “Pray that the baby inside me will grow healthy and strong and survive this experience.”
2. Blessings on those in Volunteer Training January 31 to February 11.
3. Lisa Locke to get over the remains of the flu; protection from staff, client and volunteers from illness.
4. All My Money class for clients to learn to handle their money wisely, Feb. 15, 17, 22, 24
